There are two methods of moving waste between facilities; Shipments or Deliveries and Collections

The Shipments function is used for point to point loads, i.e. sending a full load to a 3rd party for disposal, or sending a full load to another site within your business unit. See Shipments for more information.

The Deliveries and Collections function is used when doing Milk Runs, i.e. dropping some containers, picking up some containers at various stops along a route. This article describes the steps involved in doing a Milk Run.

Milk Runs can be initiated in different ways, but for this article, we are assuming the following scenario:
  1. The vehicle is loaded with empty containers at a waste treatment facility.
  2. The vehicle makes multiple stops at customers' facilities where it both drops off empty containers and collects full containers.
  3. The vehicle then returns to the treatment site and unloads the contents of the vehicle.
  4. The containers are weighed at the treatment site.
  5. The containers are disposed of at the treatment site.
  6. The empty containers are washed.
  7. The containers are put into storage.

NOTE: A Milk Run could also be initiated in the field by collecting containers at a customer site.

Load Vehicle (Mobile App)

The Load Vehicle function is used to load the vehicle with empty containers at the waste treatment facility. Firstly you must select the vehicle you are loading. This can be done by picking a Vehicle from the list or scanning the barcode associated with the vehicle. See Vehicles for more information about setting up vehicles.

By default, you will only see vehicles where loading is in progress. The steps to add containers to a new load are:
  1. Tap on the Vehicles Not in Use toggle to show all vehicles.
  2. Select the Vehicle from the dropdown list (if not scanned).
  3. You can optionally enter a Description for this Milk Run.
  4. You can add containers to the load by either scanning the individual containers/trollies, or adding the entire contents of a Zone to a shipment. The Zone option is useful if you wish to prepare your loads in advance, as you can move the containers to the Zone where you are staging the load before the vehicle being available. See Moving Waste for more information.
  5. Scan the Container or Trolley, or select/scan the Zone.

Tip: To remove a container added in error simply scan it again.

Deliver Containers (Mobile App)

Use the Deliver function to record the containers that are being dropped at a particular customer site. The steps are:
  1. Scan or Enter the ID of your Vehicle. A picklist option is not available for vehicles on this screen to prevent an operator from inadvertently picking the wrong vehicle. You will only need to do this at the first stop on a Milk Run.
  2. The Milk Run Description (if one was entered), and number of Containers on Load currently on the Vehicle will be displayed.
  3. Select your Drop Site.
  4. Select the Drop Zone within the Drop Site where the containers are being dropped.
  5. You can drop containers by either scanning the barcode on the Container or the Trolley, or you can select Vehicle if you want to unload all containers currently on the vehicle.
  6. Scan the Container or Trolley, or tap on Vehicle.

Weigh, Dispose & Clean Container(s)

A weight can be entered against the container at any stage, e.g. it could be weighed at the customer site prior to collection, or it can be weighed when the container is returned to the treatment site after collection.

See Adjust Weight/Volume for Container(s) for more information on entering container weights.

Once the container is weighed, it can either be put into storage using the Move function, or it can be Disposed. See Disposing / Treating Waste for more information on disposing waste.

If the Container Type is re-usable (Permanent), then it may need to be cleaned (depending on configuration) before it can be re-used. See Clean Container(s) for more information.
